ShapeDiver | Solving the problem

Which problem are you trying to solve?

ShapeDiver is used across more than fifteen industries, but most enquiries fall into one of four groups.

Architecture, engineering, and construction practices typically have a limited number of computational designers who become a bottleneck. Engineers and architects queue up to have scripts re-run, parameters tweaked, and models exported; each request costs an email, a file transfer, and a chance to introduce an error. ShapeDiver lets your computational team publish their definitions as web apps with safe parameter ranges, data validation, role-based access, and version control, so the rest of the practice can run them. ShapeDiver reports that a fully deployed app typically saves two to three hours of engineering time per run, and that firms commonly publish five to ten apps in their first year.

Orthotics, footwear, eyewear, and other scan-to-print applications start from a different input: a scan of a real person. The problem is rarely the Grasshopper logic - it's that every case needs a clinician, fitter or optician to drive it, and none of them have Rhino. A ShapeDiver app takes the scan as a file input, runs your definition against it in the cloud, and returns a fitted, print-ready model in seconds, with no CAD skills required at the point of use. Because the whole chain is automated, the geometry that reaches the printer is generated by the same validated logic every time, with the tolerances, wall thicknesses, and clearances you specified rather than the ones someone remembered to apply. Parameter limits and data validation stop out-of-range cases from reaching production, and access can be restricted to named clinics or partners. For anyone scaling a bespoke medical or wearable product beyond what one technician can model by hand, this is usually the deciding factor.

Made-to-order manufacturers - jewellery, furniture, staircases, panels, marine and industrial products - use ShapeDiver to build 3D configurators with genuine parametric precision. Not a fixed set of pre-rendered variants, but a live model accurate to the millimetre. Customers configure the product in 3D or Augmented Reality; the order arrives with production-ready geometry, technical drawings, and cutting or CNC files generated automatically. Dynamic pricing based on size, volume, or custom logic is calculated by the same definition. The commercial case is the easiest of the four to make: fewer hours spent on technical sales, no manual re-modelling of each order, and no transcription errors between the order and the workshop. There is a sales benefit too - customers who personalise a product tend to value it more highly, and ShapeDiver integrates directly with Shopify and WooCommerce, and with iJewel3D for jewellery workflows.

Consultants — computational design practices and independent Grasshopper specialists — use ShapeDiver to change what they sell. Instead of delivering a .gh file, which the client cannot maintain and which gives away your intellectual property, you deliver a hosted application on a subscription. You keep the definition, the client gets something their whole team can actually use, and you keep the ongoing relationship rather than closing the job at handover.
