For a deeper-dive into our favourite upcoming Rhino v9 features you'll want to read our more detailed list of Rhino 9's new, and improved, features.
Rhino 9 - Modelling
On the modelling side, Rhino 9 introduces major improvements to core surfacing operations, including significantly more robust Fillet, Blend and Chamfer tools, a completely rewritten Patch command, new curve inflation and SubD editing tools, and enhanced Boolean operations. Users will also benefit from new workflows for analysing and controlling surface quality, including Global Edge Continuity, Soft Transform and Gumball UVN. These additions provide greater control over complex geometry while producing cleaner, more reliable results for downstream applications.
Rhino 9 – Drafting and Documentation
For drafting and documentation, Rhino 9 expands its capabilities with substantial improvements to Clipping Sections, new hatch and drafting symbol libraries, enhanced DXF/DWG translation, and the introduction of Worksessions on Mac. These updates streamline the production of technical drawings and help improve organisation, consistency and interoperability across projects and platforms.
Rhino 9 – Viewport and Rendering Enhancements
Viewport and rendering enhancements further improve the day-to-day user experience. New viewport visibility controls, improved raytracing presets, better transparency and refraction display, expanded decal support and the move to Direct3D graphics acceleration all contribute to a more stable, efficient and visually accurate environment. Together, these developments make Rhino 9 one of the most significant updates in recent years, delivering practical improvements that benefit both everyday workflows and complex professional projects.
