Iray Server

NVIDIA┬« IRAY┬« server is a software solution that provides distributed Iray rendering across networked machines. It uses a common installation and license to deliver traditional offline batch rendering and interactive rendering to all NVIDIA Iray plugin products, without the need to install any other application.

All machines running Iray Server coordinate with each other to reduce the time needed to render an image. This allows a render farm to process poster-size images in a fraction of the time of a single machine. A central management console also gives flexible control over submitted jobs with the ability to adjust and rerun past jobs.

Iray Server also speeds up your creative process by bridging to your Iray application and streaming back the rendered results as you manipulate your scene. Soon, even a modest laptop will be able operate Iray at the speed of your most powerful rendering rig.

Iray Server will be available on Windows and Linux, seamlessly coordinating with Iray client machines regardless of their operating system.

System Requirements
  • 64-bit Operating System: Windows 7 or Linux
  • 8GB RAM
  • 250GB free disk space
  • 100MBit networking bandwidth
  • Multicast or TCP/IP for distributed rendering
  • Iray Client with Iray Server support, such as:
  • Iray for Maya, Iray for 3ds Max, Iray for Rhino, Iray for Cinema 4D, DAZ Studio

Processor Support
  • Rendering speed is impacted by the quantity, speed, and core count of X86 CPUs and/or CUDA-capable GPUs
  • All CPUs and/or GPUs recognized by the OS are supported, with individual control over their inclusion for Iray rendering
  • GPU acceleration requires a GPU that is Fermi generation or later (includes most NVIDIA processors from the past 5 years)
  • Mixed GPU types, generations and speeds are supported
  • Jobs not fitting into GPU memory will run on remaining GPUs with sufficient memory and/or on CPU and system RAM
